Hi, my name is Brian, though around here I don’t mind being called Moose.
I’ve learned most of what I know about skincare from the women in my life, especially my wife and our four daughters. Moose’s Tallow has truly been a family project from the beginning.

No. We render slowly in small batches, so our tallow smells clean, not beefy. Poor rendering is what causes a strong beef odor, not tallow itself.
Where does your tallow come from?
We get our tallow from a small butcher shop in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, not some faceless supplier. That shop sources cattle from small, hometown farms nearby. We render it into tallow ourselves, by hand, in small batches.

Every Moose's Tallow product is made by hand, in small batches, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. We render our own tallow and blend simple, recognizable ingredients ourselves. Nothing is handed off to a faceless factory.
Isn't tallow just cow fat?
Tallow is rendered beef fat. People have cooked with it for centuries, in old recipes for pie crust, fried potatoes, even soap. But not all beef fat is the same. Suet is one specific kind: the fat around the kidneys and internal organs. Butchering a cow yields hundreds of pounds of fat. Only about 12 to 17 pounds of that is suet. It's the fat that carries vitamins A, D, E and K, the same ones your skin needs. That's why Moose's Tallow starts with suet, not just any rendered fat. If a "tallow" product isn't made from suet, it's just regular cow fat with a nicer name.
