What You Won't Find In Our Tallow
Our ancestors rendered fat, added a few real ingredients, and called it done. We still do. Some things never make it into a tin, no matter how normal they are in the industry.

Preservatives
Parabens
Methyl, propyl, butyl and friends. Never, even when a formula needs a preservative.
Formaldehyde Releasers
DMDM hydantoin, quaternium-15 and similar. Often hidden behind long names.
Phenoxyethanol
The go-to cheap preservative. We pay more for gentler options.
Methylisothiazolinone
A harsh preservative common in mass-market products. Not in ours.
Triclosan
An antibacterial additive. Tallow doesn't need the help.
Triclocarban
Another antibacterial additive we leave out.
BHA
A synthetic preservative. We use rosemary extract and vitamin E instead.
BHT
Same job, same answer. Rosemary extract and vitamin E do it for us.
Fragrance & Color
Phthalates
Our fragrance oils must be phthalate-free. If a scent fades early, so be it.
Synthetic Dyes
No FD&C or D&C colors. Our color comes from mica, iron oxide and clay.
Lake Dyes
Dyes bound to aluminum. We use mineral pigments instead.
Coal Tar Dyes
Color made from coal byproducts. Never in our tins.
Plastic Glitter
Our shimmer is mica, pulled from the earth.
Fillers & Synthetics
Petroleum Jelly
Cheap filler made from oil. Beef tallow already does the job.
Mineral Oil
Another petroleum filler. We use real fats and oils.
Paraffin Wax
A petroleum wax. We use beeswax and plant waxes.
Dimethicone
A silicone that sits on top of skin. We use ingredients that absorb.
Other Silicones
Cyclopentasiloxane and the rest of the family. None of them.
Synthetic Waxes
Lab-made waxes standing in for the real thing.
Synthetic Polymers
VP/eicosene, carbomer, acrylates. Plastics-style thickeners we skip.
Propylene Glycol
A solvent usually made from petroleum. We don't need it.
PEGs & Ethoxylated Ingredients
Anything ending in -eth or starting with PEG. Not in our formulas.
Polysorbates
Synthetic emulsifiers. We choose gentler ones.
Talc
A cheap powder filler. We use clay and arrowroot.
Microplastics
No microbeads, ever.
Bulking Fillers
Nothing added to stretch a jar. What you pay for is what you get.
Detergents & Solvents
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
A harsh detergent. Not in anything we make.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Same family, same answer.
Ethanolamines
DEA, MEA and TEA. We leave them out.
EDTA
A synthetic chelator. We use sodium phytate instead.
Denatured Alcohol
A drying alcohol used to thin formulas. Not in ours.
Sunscreen Chemicals
Oxybenzone
A chemical sunscreen filter. We make no sunscreen claims.
Octinoxate
Another chemical filter. Not in our products.
Homosalate
Same story. Our Sun Balm uses non-nano zinc oxide only.
The Hard No's
Lead
We don't leave room for it in the first place.
Hydroquinone
A skin-lightening ingredient. Not what we make.
PFAS
The so-called forever chemicals. Not in our formulas.
Aluminum
Our deodorant works with your body instead of blocking sweat.
How It's Made & Where It's From
Hexane Processing
Our oils are pressed or extracted without industrial solvents.
Deodorized Oils
Deodorizing strips an oil's natural character. We leave ours alone.
Bleached Ingredients
Ours look like what they are.
Soybean Oil
No industrial seed oil hiding in our formulas.
Canola Oil
Same answer.
Cottonseed Oil
Same answer.
Corn Oil
Same answer.
Hydrogenated Oils
Beef tallow and coconut oil do the job without them.
GMO-Derived Ingredients
Every plant-derived ingredient traces back to a non-GMO source.
Gluten
None of our ingredients come from wheat, barley or rye.
Nanoparticles
Nothing engineered smaller than nature intended.
Ingredients From China
We source close to home, right down to beeswax from Lebanon and Lancaster Counties.
This list stays short because our ingredient list stays short. Beef tallow, real oils and butters, and minerals we can name.
