Some mornings, your skin just looks calm before you've done anything to it. That's the actual goal here, not a marketing word. Frankincense and myrrh resin have done this job for thousands of years. Most balms just add the essential oil to a plain base. We do something different.
We infuse the whole resin directly into tallow, hot and slow, for hours. That matters more than it sounds. Steam distillation only pulls out the light, volatile part of a resin. It leaves the heavier compounds behind. That includes frankincense's boswellic acids, tied to collagen support and calmer skin. Those acids are too large to survive distillation. The only way to get them into a product is to infuse the actual resin into a fat. That's what we do here.
Myrrh works the same way. Real myrrh resin is only 3 to 8% essential oil by weight. The rest is resinous material most products never touch. We infuse it straight into the tallow too.
On top of the resin-infused base, we layer in real helichrysum italicum. It's one of the most researched oils for skin regeneration. We round it out with a warm vanilla note.
The tallow itself is not just a carrier. Its fatty acid profile, oleic, palmitic, stearic, and palmitoleic acid, is structurally close to your skin's own sebum. That's part of why it absorbs so easily. Tallow also carries trace amounts of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, naturally, not added.

Why I Started Making Tallow Skincare
Hi, my name is Brian, though around here I don’t mind being called Moose.
I’ve learned most of what I know about skincare from the women in my life, especially my wife and our four daughters. Moose’s Tallow has truly been a family project from the beginning.
I started making tallow skincare after a serious health scare forced me to rethink everything I put in my body. Once I focused on real ingredients, another question came up: if what we eat matters that much… what about what we put on our body?
With a busy home full of people I love, that question mattered a lot. When my daughters told me they were already using tallow for skincare, I decided to learn how to make it myself.

Using clean, dry fingers, scoop a small amount of the resin-infused whipped tallow. It is concentrated, so a little goes a long way.

Rub between your palms for a few seconds. Body heat melts the tallow so it spreads easily and absorbs into the skin.

Apply to clean, slightly damp skin, most often the face or neck, as part of a nightly routine. Massage in gently until absorbed.

What does frankincense resin do for the skin?
Frankincense resin contains boswellic acids, compounds tied to collagen support and calmer, less irritated skin. Steam distillation can't capture these acids, since they are too large and non-volatile to survive the process.
