Description

I wanted a beard balm that could give my goatee real shape, keep it under control, and tame the inevitable flyaways without feeling stiff, waxy, or greasy.

That’s where tallow, castor oil, and beeswax come in. Together, they provide light structure and natural hold to help guide the beard where you want it, while staying flexible and comfortable throughout the day.

While developing my Eye Awake cream, I realized the egg yolk oil I was already using belonged here too. Egg yolk oil is rich in natural fats and fat-soluble vitamins that help nourish beard hair, soften coarse strands, and reduce dryness, especially in shorter or shaped areas like a goatee.

This balm comes in a compact travel-size tin and is soft enough to scoop with your fingers. Simply warm a small amount between two or three fingertips, then work it into the beard or hair wherever you want more control, shape, or polish.

Finished with our Evergreen fragrance, a clean, grounded blend inspired by fresh woods and open air. Subtle, not overpowering, and designed to wear well all day.

This is a beef tallow beard balm for men built on rendered beef tallow and egg yolk oil — gentle enough for sensitive skin under the beard, strong enough to shape a coarse goatee.

Beard balm vs beard oil: beard oil mainly hydrates skin and softens hair. A beard balm does that too, but adds light hold. This tallow beard balm conditions with beef tallow and egg yolk oil, then shapes and tames flyaways. It works on your hair as well, so many men skip running both.

Simple ingredients. Real function.

Built to shape, soften, and support your hair & beard.

Facts vs Fiction

Tallow Beard Balm Myths

Myth

Beard oil is just a gimmick for shine.

Truth

A quality beard product should do more than add shine. Jojoba oil, castor oil, beef tallow, and egg yolk oil help condition beard hair and support a softer, healthier-looking beard from root to tip.

Softening The Brillo Pad

My beard is very coarse and gets very much like a Brillo pad - especially after swimming in a chlorine filled pool during the summer. I've tried a bunch of products on it, but I find beard oils to be, well, oily. And nothing I've tried either works or maybe it would work but I find it unenjoyable to use. Been using the tallow beard balm now for a bit and it works! And, it's not oily or unenjoyable to use. Also as a bonus it keeps my lips moist! :)

Conditions my beard and skin without feeling greasy

I've tried a lot of different beard oils and balms over the years, and one thing I always hated was how greasy my hands felt after applying them. Moose Tallow has been completely different. It absorbs well, doesn't leave that oily residue behind, and keeps both my beard and skin feeling great.

Since I started using it, I've noticed the skin on my face is less dry and my beard dandruff has completely disappeared. The quality is obvious, and a little goes a long way. As an added bonus, my wife loves the scent, which is always a win in my book.

If you're looking for a beard product that actually conditions your beard and skin without feeling greasy, I highly recommend giving Moose Tallow a try.

Finally Found a Hair Clay Better Than American Crew

I picked up the Medium Hold Hair Clay and honestly wish I had tried it sooner. Once I finally used it, I haven’t stopped. The Spicy Rum scent smells amazing without being overpowering. What surprised me most is how natural it feels. It isn’t tacky or greasy, but it still gives a solid hold. I can run my fingers through my hair and it still keeps its shape. I used American Crew for years and this tallow hair clay works way better for me. Great texture, clean feel, and easy styling.

Great Beard Balm

This beard balm has a great smell. It has enough hold to control beard and mustache hairs but is still soft. It also feels moisturizing too.

Works well on my goatee helping it to quickly keep its pointed shape. I also use it on fly-away hairs on my head.

Family Owned Whipped Tallow Body Butter Business

Why I Started Making Tallow Skincare

Hi, my name is Brian, though around here I don’t mind being called Moose.

I’ve learned most of what I know about skincare from the women in my life, especially my wife and our four daughters, but Moose’s Tallow has truly been a full family project from the beginning.

I started making tallow skincare after a serious health scare forced me to rethink everything I put in my body. Once I eliminated processed foods and focused on real ingredients, another question came up: if what we eat matters that much… what about what we put on our skin?

With a busy home full of people I love, that question mattered a lot. When my daughters told me they were already using tallow for skincare, I decided to learn how to make it myself.

What began as a small project to make better skincare just for my family to bless them eventually turned into something much bigger.

Beard & Hair Balm FAQ

Everything you need to know about our egg yolk oil infused tallow beard and hair balm.

What does it do?

It softens and conditions your beard, tames flyaways, and adds light, natural hold and shine.

Can I use it on my hair too?

Yes — it doubles as a light styling balm for hair, not just beard.

What's in it?

Beef tallow, egg yolk oil, and castor oil for conditioning, hold, and shine. No synthetic junk.

Does it give hold?

A light-to-medium natural hold — enough to tame and shape without stiffness or crunch.

Is it greasy?

Not when used in small amounts. Warm a little between your palms and work it through.

How do I apply it?

Scoop a small amount, warm it between your palms, and work it through your beard or hair from root to tip.

Is it natural?

Yes — simple, nourishing ingredients and no synthetic additives.

Beard balm vs beard oil — what's the difference?

Beard oil mainly hydrates the skin and softens hair. A beard balm does that and adds light hold to shape your beard and tame flyaways. Our tallow beard balm conditions with beef tallow and egg yolk oil while giving flexible, natural hold — so many guys use it in place of running both.

Beard balm vs beard butter — which should I use?

Beard butter is softer and purely for conditioning, with little to no hold. A balm like ours conditions and holds — so if you want your beard shaped and controlled through the day, choose the balm.

How do you use a beard balm?

Start with a clean, dry beard. Scoop a small amount, warm it between your palms, and work it from the skin out to the tips. Shape with your fingers or a comb to tame flyaways and add flexible hold.

Is tallow beard balm good for sensitive skin?

Yes. Beef tallow closely mirrors your skin's own oils, so it absorbs easily and stays gentle on sensitive skin under the beard — helping calm dryness and itch without synthetic additives.
