Swipe it on and the itch quits before you reach the car. An after bite balm for the moment after the bite, not before.

Swipe it straight onto the bite from a mess-free stick, so your hands never touch the balm. It goes on clean and starts calming the itch. Use it as soon as a bite flares up. Reach for it after mosquito bites, gnat bites, and brushes with poison ivy.

We slow-infuse tallow with plantain and jewelweed, trail plants long used to soothe angry skin. Calendula, chamomile, colloidal oatmeal, and bisabolol help cool the sting. No cortisone, no DEET, no synthetic filler.

Keep it in the pack next to Hiker's Friend. It ends the stop-scratching-it fight before it starts.

Why I Started Making Tallow Skincare

Hi, my name is Brian, though around here I don’t mind being called Moose.

I’ve learned most of what I know about skincare from the women in my life, especially my wife and our four daughters. Moose’s Tallow has truly been a family project from the beginning.

I started making tallow skincare after a serious health scare forced me to rethink everything I put in my body. Once I focused on real ingredients, another question came up: if what we eat matters that much… what about what we put on our skin?

With a busy home full of people I love, that question mattered a lot. When my daughters told me they were already using tallow for skincare, I decided to learn how to make it myself.

What started as a small project for my family eventually turned into something much bigger.

Key Ingredients

  • Plantain-Infused Oil Plantain-Infused Oil Plantain-Infused OilMade by slowly steeping plantain leaves in a carrier oil. This is the common trail plant, not the banana, and herbalists have used it for generations to soothe irritated skin. We infuse it ourselves for our after-bite balm.
  • Jewelweed-Infused Oil Jewelweed-Infused Oil Jewelweed-Infused OilMade by steeping jewelweed, a wild trail plant long tied to calming irritated skin. It is the one people reach for after brushing against something itchy outdoors. We infuse it ourselves for our after-bite balm, from wild-harvested plants.
  • Colloidal Oatmeal Colloidal Oatmeal Colloidal OatmealSimply oats ground very fine, trusted for generations to soothe dry, sensitive, or itchy skin. It helps support the skin's barrier and adds a silky, calming feel. In our scrubs and balms it softens and comforts as it works.
  • Calendula-Infused Oil Calendula-Infused Oil Calendula-Infused OilMade by slowly steeping calendula (marigold) flowers in a carrier oil. Calendula is one of the gentlest, most soothing plants in skincare, often chosen for sensitive or easily upset skin. In our balms it helps calm and comfort delicate areas.
  • Chamomile-Infused Oil Chamomile-Infused Oil Chamomile-Infused OilMade by steeping chamomile flowers in a carrier oil. The same plant behind a calming tea also calms the skin, helping settle redness and irritation. In our gentle formulas it adds a quiet, comforting touch.
